Grandpa Horror Game

Grandpa is a horror game about escaping a haunted house while a dangerous pursuer searches the rooms. The layout seems familiar at first, but any hallway can become a problem once Grandpa gets close. You need to find useful objects, work out how to use them, and open the route outside.

Chases are tense because of the sound design and the little space available to move. Dropping an item or taking one careless step can change the situation in seconds. You might spend part of a run learning the house, then have to make a quick choice when Grandpa appears at the end of a corridor. Patience matters as much as speed. Grandpa moves differently from Granny, so an escape tactic that works against her may fail here. Listen for him, watch his patrol pattern, and know where you can hide before picking up an important object. During a chase, staying calm can keep you from running into a dead end.

Grandpa and Granny

Grandpa and Granny create different problems during an escape attempt. Grandpa carries a rake and moves slowly, but his sharp hearing makes even small noises risky. He can also set traps, so an apparently clear route may already be dangerous. Granny carries a stick, reacts quickly when she notices you, and usually chases straight toward the sound. Other distractions can pull her away. Their different movement patterns affect how you approach each room.

Grandpa Granny
Carries a rake Carries a stick
Moves slowly Has very fast reflexes
Easily hears small noises Can be distracted by other factors
Sets traps to catch prey Runs straight toward the sound

These differences matter when you have only a moment to react. Grandpa’s slow movement gives you more time to change direction, but his sharp hearing can reveal your mistake before you reach safety. Granny reacts faster, leaving less room for hesitation, though a distraction may give you another escape route. Adjust your movement to the threat in front of you rather than treating both characters the same.

Escape the House

In Grandpa, your goal is to find a way out of a house full of hazards. Items may be hidden in rooms, drawers, corners, or places you might overlook. Some are part of larger puzzles, so their purpose may not be clear right away. You might have to carry an object through several rooms, return to an earlier area, or remember where you saw a locked door during your first search.

Pay attention to which routes are open and which are blocked. A chase can break your focus, and a familiar room may become dangerous when Grandpa moves nearby. He patrols the house and reacts to signs of movement. Opening a door, dropping an object, or stepping onto a noisy surface can give away your position.

Use closets, the space under beds, and other hiding spots when you need them. They only help if you reach one before Grandpa sees you, so pick a nearby place rather than running blindly. A slower search often gives you a better chance. Rushing through every room makes more noise and leaves you with fewer options when Grandpa arrives.

Sound is one of the clearest clues in the game. Footsteps can warn you that Grandpa is nearby, while a falling object may reveal your position from another room. Even a small noise can draw him over, especially if he is already patrolling the area.

Move quietly through the house whenever you can. If solving a puzzle requires noise, decide in advance where you will hide or which doorway you will take afterward. Headphones make it easier to distinguish distant footsteps from sounds near your character and judge Grandpa’s direction.

Pay attention to changes in volume. If the sound gets louder, stop and reassess your options. If it fades, you may have a brief chance to search or move an item. The approach is slow, but it gives you more control during each escape attempt. Remember which actions caused trouble and adjust that part of your route on the next run. Grandpa may be slow, but the house leaves little room for noisy mistakes.
