Backrooms Recovery is a first-person survival horror game set within the unsettling universe of the Backrooms. The story starts with a simple trip to a park, but an unexpected event changes everything and sends the character into a strange world far beyond reality.
Backrooms Recovery places you inside endless yellow hallways covered with aged wallpaper and damp, musty carpets. Constantly flickering fluorescent lights hang above the corridors, creating the appearance of an unfinished office complex that was abandoned before construction was complete.
Backrooms Recovery makes navigation highly disorienting because the rooms and hallways appear almost identical. A route that looks familiar may lead to a completely different area, so players must carefully remember their surroundings while exploring.
Memories and Escape
Memory Fragments
Backrooms Recovery requires you to search for Memory Fragments scattered across the Backrooms. Every fragment provides another piece of information and gradually explains what happened before the character entered this strange environment.
Backrooms Recovery increases the MEMORY % stat whenever you collect important items. As the percentage rises, additional parts of the story are revealed through the scattered memories, giving players a clearer understanding of the character’s situation.
Memory fragments alone are not enough to uncover the full truth. Clues may appear in photographs, written documents, and small environmental details throughout the Backrooms. Try to inspect every room carefully, because important evidence could be easy to miss.
Warning Signs
Backrooms Recovery uses warnings such as “AVOID THE SHADOWS,” “DON’T GET CAUGHT,” and “NEVER LOOK BEHIND” to build a constant sense of danger. The empty hallways are already unsettling, while hidden entities make each area even more threatening. If you realize something is following you, you must avoid the entities and continue moving.
Gameplay and Controls
Backrooms Recovery uses a first-person perspective for exploration and survival. On PC, players move with the WASD keys. On phones and tablets, Backrooms Recovery uses an on-screen joystick, while interactions are completed by clicking or tapping the required objects.
Backrooms Recovery focuses on exploration, investigation, and connecting separate clues. The game does not provide a clear route directly to the objective. Players must remember explored locations, check hidden corners, and search for objects that could otherwise remain unnoticed.
As the MEMORY % stat increases, the mystery behind the journey through Backrooms Recovery gradually becomes clearer. The player’s main goal is to escape and return to safety before the presence in the darkness discovers them. The endless corridors of Backrooms Recovery create a horror experience based on exploration and survival, while The Cat In Yellow places players in interactive horror scenarios filled with mysteries and jump scares.
